Welcome to The Dachshund Rescue Web Page!
Important! (15 October, 2007) - Please visit this page for important changes that have happened at Dachshund Rescue Web Page, Inc.
I sincerely hope you are visiting because you hope to adopt a homeless dachshund. If you are, may I suggest you also consider a copy of the book "Dachshunds for Dummies" , available from Amazon.com .
This is arguably the most fun and informative guide to this special breed of dog. Dachshunds for Dummies is an informative and entertaining guide to dachshunds, suitable for both the new dachshund owner, as well as the person who has known and loved these little "weiners" for years.
Amazon.com offers an assortment of dachshund related items through their website. If you would like to see additional items, you can search Amazon.com for dachshund related items by clicking on this link . Even better, a portion of any purchases made through these links will be donated to dachshund rescue. It doesn't even need to be dachshund related. ANY purchases will qualify!
If, on the other hand, you are here because you can no longer keep your dachshund , this site can help you. We are convinced that there is an appropriate home for every dachshund who needs one. This site is intended to be a resource to help find that home.
Before you continue exploring my labor of love for these little dogs, please take a few moments to read three pages that have great meaning to The Dachshund Rescue Web Page.
The first one is my personal plea for those senior dachshunds currently in search of a place to spend their final years. The second is a story of Rainbow Bridge , written by the listowner of one of the dachshund e-mail communities. The final page is "for those who foster", attributed to Grace Saalsaa, of Midamerica Border Collie Rescue.
All of these pages have a great deal of meaning to anyone who has ever worked breed rescue.

The Dachshund Rescue Web Page does not receive any government funding. Support comes directly from my pocket and it goes directly to the dachshunds.
If you have found the information and services provided by this site to be of value, please consider supporting rescue efforts by making a contribution to help continue the work. Information on how you can donate can be found by visiting our "Dollars for Dachshunds" page.
The Dachshund Rescue Web Page is a strong believer in spay and neuter programs. There is absolutely no reason for a pet not to be sterilized and several very good reasons why they should. Consider these sobering facts from the Humane Society of the United States website:
- In six years one female dog and her offspring can be the source of 67,000 puppies.
- In just seven years, one female cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens.
- There is theoretically no limit to the number of offspring male dogs and cats can produce.
- Every day in the United States, tens of thousands of puppies and kittens are born. Compare this to the 11,000 human births each day, and you can see that there can never be enough homes for all these pets.
I strongly urge you to consider clicking the link to their website above, to read more.
