Hi out there prospective adopters -- I’m Max E (the hansom, more ‘experienced’ one with the yellow collar [picture on the right]) and he’s Pete E [picture on the left]. No! – I’m Pete E (the dashing one in the red collar) and he’s just plain…Max. We’re a father and son tag team of adult tweenie dachshunds who weigh a very trim and muscular 17lbs each. Well dad (Max is about 10yrs of age), some of us are more trim (Pete is about 8yrs) – than ‘others!’ Actually, if truth be told -- neither of us acts very much like an older dog. Our foster mom says we are more like playful puppies who are simply well mannered and politely trained. We are also AKC quality dogs, although our former owner could not find where she put our papers. We came to DRSF because our foster mom jumped in the car and drove 5 hours to keep the lady who took us when our former owners passed away – from having us euthanized. We are not sure what that word means but we are pretty sure we wouldn’t have liked it. Now, part of the reason we are feeling so virile these days (though we’ve both been neutered so we can’t do much) is that our foster home is a veritable harem! We have 5 beautiful and alluring dachshund sisters who are always daring us to demonstrate our affections! Ahhh…if only we had met these young ladies earlier, what fun we would have had. While we have spent much of our lives together, we have been separated at times and have done ok. DRSF’s ideal placement of these two gorgeous dogs would be either together in a single home, or separated but in the same family and nearby each other where they would still see each other regularly and still be able to grow old together. Both dogs are loving, active and housetrained – they are the best example of why rescues exist. When you meet them you too will see what a loss it would have been not to have saved them. Their foster mom says “these two little guys are just about PERFECT.”
Pete E and Max E are being fostered in Palm Beach County, in case you want to stop by for a personal introduction. The adoption fee for the pair is $150 which will help pay for their shots and vet care (both are healthy, UTD on shots and have had their teeth cleaned).
