PeeWee's Story

Peewee's Story

We adopted Peewee from you several years ago in Jacksonville Florida. Since then Peewee has become an inseparable part of our family! He and Zoomer our other Dachshund, get along fantastically! Initially Zoomer was a little put out but now they do everything together.

In our family Peewee decided that I was his person and when I am home is never more than a few feet from me. When I am away at work he takes over my wife, Ann, as his temporary person and will sit with her for hours.

Peewee came to us with a fixation for playing fetch. He prefers tennis balls, but anything will do in a pinch! He has amazed and amused everyone that has met him because when he returns the ball he drops it and "kicks" it with his paw directly at you.

We could not imagine being without little Peewee, he is such a sweet boy. A year ago, Zoomer was stung by a bee, the bee did not let go, and before we could figure out what happened Peewee was on top of Zoomer bitting the bee! Since then if he sees a bee he tries to attack the bee!

Some hope for those who acquire an adopted pet that does not seem to be fitting in right away. When Peewee first came to us, he would only, reluctantly, let me pick him up. He would growl and snap at anyone else that tried. Within a few months he totally changed. Now he jumps on everyones leg, wags his tail with that "Pick me up" look. We taught our two boys ages 9 and 10, how to correctly pick him up and hold him and put him down so that he does not injure himself. Peewee loves to be picked up now so he can see what's around at our level!

Thanks again for performing such a wonderful service, we really love our Peewee and are so thankful that your rescue service exists to give dogs like Peewee a chance at finding their "people".
