Wolfgang and Sebatian's Story

Wolfgang and Sebatian's Story

Its been just a few days since Wolfgang and Sebastian came into my life, and I can't imagine ever being without then. Wolfgang and Sebastian are 12 week old red, smooth coat mini brothers I received Nov. 20, 2004 from New Mexico Dachshund Rescue volunteer Donna, from Tucson, AZ.

First of all, Donna is a wonderful person, caring about the dogs and and the new owner equally. She and I corresponded almost daily via the internet for several weeks before we met at a dog show in Phoenix to deliver the new puppies. She was approached by individuals wanting to take the puppies because they are so cute, but she fended them off until I could gather them. She had a file of medical records, personality profiles, suggestions, etc. ready for me. Probably more professional than the adoption of a child! She loves dachshunds and as a breeder, she is a wealth of information.

The "boys" are starting to get the hang of potty training, love to wrastle, run, tear up cardboard, attack their stuffed animals and general act like my 5 and 6 year old nephews. Leash training is next, they don't seem to understand them yet. They found the roll of toilet paper in the bathroom yesterday and made a big fluffy pile of white shreds. Bark chips and sticks seem to be preferred to the expensive rawhide chews, toys and biscuits I have purchased. Newspapers have a very short life expectancy, as do toilet paper card board rolls.

All in all, I am glad these two guys are in my life, and extremely glad that all those involved in dachshund rescue societies are helping place all deserving dachshunds with loving families.
