Ivy was rescued from a commercial breeding facility in Nebraska. For 10 years she was bred over and over, nearly to death. She was afraid to come out of her carrier when she first arrived at HUA. It became apparent that she was experiencing pain from a large hernia which developed due to the years and years of breeding. Ivy has some teeth missing, and others are so rotten that no doubt she will lose more. Also due to the lack of dental care she has a hole in her upper jaw.
When Ivy was taken to play in the grass for the first time she came alive. She was so happy to be free and feel the sun and the warm grass. She warmed right up to people and realized that she is now safe and loved. We are so happy for Ivy! Her joy is our joy.
Ivy is a female dachshund. She was born in 1999 and weighs 13 pounds.
