Rusty is a handsome red smooth boy. Currently at 18 pounds, he must be fed a measured diet in order to be successful at maintaining his weight. He was almost 23 pounds when he arrived and as the pounds have melted away, his activity level has increased accordingly. The webmaster, by the way, is a lousy photographer - Rusty is really much more handsome in person!

Rusty received his vaccines from his previous vet in August of 2007 (prior to his owner passing away). The vets at Hidden Hills Animal Hospital gave Rusty a full dental, removed a suspicious lump on his side (a lipoma - absolutely harmless) and implanted him with a HomeAgain™ microchip as well. Rusty's age is unknown, however the wife of his late owner said that she was fairly certain that he was about 12 years old.

Rusty was good with the cat that lived in his previous home, but has no real experience with children. He's pretty good with the other dogs in his foster home. His previous life as the beloved pet of an older gentleman means that Rusty is a quiet and mellow little boy who is happy just sharing "special time" with someone.

As mentioned, Rusty came to rescue after his previous owner passed away. He came with a companion, Annie whom we would like to see go with him to his new home. We would like to see this, but it's not an absolute requirement. It wouldn't be fair to either Rusty or Annie to deny them a chance for a good home, just because the other one couldn't go too.
